Artificial Intelligence is becoming part of filmmaking, and Kannada web series RPF is attempting to make extensive use of the technology in its production. Directed by Madesh Aradhya and produced by actor Madhu Mandagere under the Divine Plan banner, the series is based on incidents from Madhu’s years working in the railway department.

The teaser was recently released at an event attended by actors Mohan, Venu and Vaani. According to the makers, nearly 80 per cent of the series has been created using AI, while the performances by the actors are being shot traditionally.

RPF will comprise seven episodes, with each episode presenting a separate story. The narratives are drawn from incidents involving railway employees and are expected to deal with issues such as corruption, scams and the difficulties faced by ordinary people. The series has been conceived as a suspense thriller.

Madhu Mandagere, who has worked as a Central Government employee and acted in around 90 films, said his experiences in the railway department became the starting point for the project. He had earlier considered developing the idea as a feature film, but the team eventually chose the web-series format.

“I have no regrets about my life being ruined, but I want to make sure that no one else’s life is ruined like mine,” Madhu said while speaking about the personal experiences behind the stories.

For Madesh Aradhya, RPF marks his first outing as a director after several years of working as an assistant and associate director. He has also been associated with Kannada cinema in other capacities, including dialogue writing.

Five to six episodes have reportedly been completed. The makers are expected to announce the streaming platform and release date soon, with the first episode planned for release shortly.

Madhu has also expressed his interest in having actress Malashree play an SP in the series.
