The controversy surrounding Love Mocktail 3 has escalated after Kannada filmmaker Guru Deshpande accused actor-director Darling Krishna of plagiarism and personal attacks. Guru Deshpande has formally filed a complaint with the Karnataka Film Chamber, claiming that the story of the film has been copied and that proper credit has not been given to the original creators.
In response to allegations made by Darling Krishna, Guru Deshpande stated that he is systematically addressing each accusation. He emphasised his long-standing career in the Kannada film industry, highlighting that all his films, including Rajahuli and Rudra Tandava, are based on original stories rooted in local culture and values. According to him, he has built his reputation through genuine work and integrity.
Guru Deshpande further alleged that Darling Krishna is engaging in personal defamation rather than addressing the core issue of plagiarism. He expressed particular anger over a specific word or remark used by Krishna, which he felt crossed a line and disrespected him personally.
Importantly, Guru Deshpande clarified that his actions are not motivated by publicity or media attention. Instead, he is seeking justice for his co-writer Raghavendra Naik, who he believes has been wronged in this situation.
The issue has now become a significant talking point in the Kannada film industry, raising concerns about intellectual property rights, creative ownership, and professional ethics. With both sides presenting conflicting claims, the matter may require further mediation by the film chamber.
