Despite winning Bigg Boss Kannada Season 11 and becoming one of Karnataka's most loved television personalities, folk singer and reality show star Hanumantha Lamani has chosen to stay away from acting. The singer recently revealed that he declined multiple offers to make his debut as a film hero, saying he neither has an interest in acting nor wants producers to take financial risks because of his popularity.
Hanumantha, who first rose to prominence through the reality singing show Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Kannada before winning Bigg Boss Kannada 11, said several producers approached him soon after his victory with proposals to launch him as a leading man. However, he politely turned them down.
Speaking about his decision, Hanumantha noted that even films starring established actors are struggling to attract audiences to theatres. He felt it would be unfair for producers to invest money solely based on the temporary popularity that comes with winning a reality show. Rather than risking someone else's hard-earned investment, he chose to focus on what he knows best—music.
While acting may not be on his agenda, Hanumantha has continued his journey as a singer. He revealed that he has already recorded songs for a few films and is eagerly waiting for audiences to hear them.
The singer also opened up about his Bigg Boss prize money. Of the ₹50 lakh cash prize, he received around ₹35 lakh after tax deductions and is currently using the amount to build a house in his native village. According to him, constructing a home has proven far more challenging than he imagined.
Despite his newfound fame, Hanumantha's grounded outlook and simplicity continue to win hearts, proving that success has not changed the singer from North Karnataka who first captured audiences with his soulful folk music.
