The actor chose to celebrate not only his movie but also the man who brought it to life

A Sharadhaa

What started as a regular teaser launch became one of the most discussed events in recent Telugu cinema. At the promotional event for his new film Cult, actor and filmmaker Vishwak Sen chose to celebrate not only his movie but also the man who brought it to life, music director Ravi Basrur.

Ravi Basrur is well-known for his work as a composer on films, such as the KGF franchise and Salaar. After changing the sound of mass cinema with the Yash starrer franchise, he quickly became one of the most sought-after composers in Indian cinema. His powerful background scores in KGF: Chapter 2, Salaar: Part 1, Ceasefire, and Kabzaa didn’t just match the visuals but his music became an experience of its own.

At the Cult teaser launch, Vishwak Sen emphasised that Basrur’s role in the film was essential. He pointed out the composer’s incredible work and expressed appreciation for the strong sonic backdrop that shaped the film’s mood and intensity. But his appreciation went beyond just words.

In a surprising move, Vishwak presented Basrur with a Rolex gold watch valued at around ₹35 lakh. The composer clearly moved, accepted the gift, as he shared his honest thoughts about his early years, a time filled with rejection, financial struggles, and deep self-doubt. He revealed that he once felt crushed under the weight of failure. During that tough time, someone stepped in with a simple yet transformative act of kindness: gifting him a keyboard and ₹35,000 to help him start over. That support not only reignited his career but also restored his determination to keep going. In gratitude, he adopted the name Ravi to honour the person who helped him rebuild his life.

The Cult teaser launch revealed the human story behind the sound, one of struggle, reminding that behind every ful score lies a journey that few see, but many feel.
