Sreeleela becomes Dr Sreeleela after earning MBBS degree: 'Your girl has kept her promise'

Sreeleela called her college a sacred space — a place where she could step away from the public gaze and simply be herself

Actor Sreeleela has added a new title to her name. Amid a demanding film career, she has completed her MBBS and is now officially Dr Sreeleela. Sharing photographs from her graduation ceremony, she reflected on the journey that brought her to this milestone.

Calling it more than just a degree, Sreeleela described it as a path shaped by growth, faith, tears and determination. “Your girl has kept her promise,” she wrote, underlining that finishing medicine was a commitment she had made to herself and her family. Balancing film shoots with medical studies was not easy, but she stayed the course.

She called her college a sacred space — a place where she could step away from the public gaze and simply be herself. Away from sets and cameras, it offered her quiet strength. Thanking her family, friends and colleagues, she expressed gratitude to those who adjusted schedules during exams and stood by her through stressful days. She also thanked everyone who believed in her even before she fully believed in herself. “This chapter shaped me. It taught me humility. It made me stronger,” she wrote, signing off as Dr Sreeleela.

The moment is especially meaningful as her mother, Swarnalatha, is also a doctor, making this a proud full-circle achievement for the family.

Alongside her academic success, Sreeleela has built a strong career in films across industries. She made her debut with Kannada film Kiss and went on to star in films such as Bharaate, and she went on to estalish in Telugu with Pelli SandaD and Dhamaka, among others. Her latest in Tamil will be with Dhanush (D55). With several big projects and leading roles to her credit at a young age, she has managed to balance commercial cinema and medical studies, a rare feat that now adds “Doctor” to her growing list of achievements.
