Kannada star Golden Star Ganesh has built a strong career in the film industry, but his brother Mahesh’s path has been marked by struggle and regret. While Ganesh rose to fame step by step, Mahesh entered cinema with hope, only to face disappointment.

Mahesh debuted with Namak Haram and later acted in films like Maharudram and Mahayuddha. None of them gave him the success he was looking for. A project titled Boundary was also stalled midway. This week, he appears in a negative role in Maggi Pustaka, which has released in theatres.

In a recent interview, Mahesh spoke openly about a decision that still troubles him. He revealed that Ganesh, knowing how difficult the industry can be, had set him up with a business instead of pushing him toward films. The business reportedly had a turnover of ₹4 crore. Mahesh walked away from it to try his luck in cinema, but ended up facing losses. “I feel I made a mistake. The regret is still there,” he said.

He also recalled standing beside his brother from the early days — from dance shows on television to his time working with Uday TV. According to Mahesh, Ganesh would hand over his entire earnings to the family and never keep money for himself. “He is our role model even today,” he added.

Mahesh's younger brother Suraj Krishna has also acted in Naane Raja while continuing his job in a private company.

For Mahesh, the journey has not been easy. Despite setbacks and financial loss, he continues to pursue acting, holding on to both admiration for his brother and the weight of missed opportunities.
