As Lahari – MRT Music celebrates its 50th golden anniversary, the legendary music label finds yet another reason to rejoice. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, a known patron of India’s arts and culture, marked this year’s Navaratri with a special nod to Kannada music, sharing a beloved track from the MRT catalogue with the nation.

The song 'Kamala Mogadole', immortalized by the legendary S Janaki, caught the Prime Minister’s attention, prompting him to post it on his X account alongside warm festival wishes. This gesture not only underscores the enduring charm of regional music but also highlights the growing recognition of Kannada art on a national stage. The music to the song is composed by B Gopalam, and lyrics by Chi Udayashankar.

For Lahari – MRT Music, which has championed local languages, culture, and artists for over five decades, this moment is a source of immense pride. “This is not just recognition for MRT Music, but a proud moment for Kannada music and its audience,” said Lahari Velu from the iconic music label.

Beyond celebrating music, the acknowledgment also serves as a bridge between tradition and the modern national discourse. In extending their Navaratri greetings to the Prime Minister, MRT Music wished him continued strength, courage, and good health, invoking Goddess Chamundi’s blessings for his service to the nation and protection of its heritage.
