LIK box office day 5: After a steady first weekend and a slight dip on Monday, Love Insurance Kompany (LIK) has shown a modest uptick on Day 5. The romantic comedy, directed by Vignesh Shivan and starring Pradeep Ranganathan, has now edged closer to the Rs 30 crore mark at the Indian box office.
On Day 5, LIK collected Rs 4.15 crore across 3,859 shows, taking its total India gross to Rs 34.27 crore and total India collections to Rs 29.65 crore so far, as per Sacnilk. Overseas, the film added Rs 0.60 crore on Tuesday, pushing its total overseas gross to Rs 10.60 crore. With this, the film’s worldwide gross collection now stands at Rs 44.87 crore.
The film had opened strong with Rs 7.05 crore on Friday, followed by Rs 7.95 crore on Saturday and Rs 7.50 crore on Sunday. The Tamil version continues to drive the film’s performance, contributing Rs 3.55 crore on Day 5, while the Telugu version added Rs 0.60 crore. So far, the Tamil version has amassed Rs 24.15 crore, while the Telugu version has brought in Rs 5.50 crore.
LIK revolves around a man’s search for love in a world where relationships have become increasingly techno-centric and transactional. The film also features SJ Suryah, Krithi Shetty, Yogi Babu, Seeman, Gouri Kishan, and Shah Rah in supporting roles.
An excerpt from CE's review of the film reads, "In Love Insurance Kompany (LIK), director Vignesh Shivan has touched upon the theme of futuristic romance, which is pregnant with promise. With a story idea of endless possibilities, the limit is your pen running dry. But LIK is terrifyingly basic. The quasi-future setup restricts itself to the romantic conflicts, leaving gaping holes in world-building. What is more painful than an irredeemably bad film is a film that squanders opportunities."
Music composer Anirudh once again reunites with director Vignesh for LIK. The crew of the film also includes Ravi Varman as the director of photography and Pradeep E Ragav as the editor.
