ZEE5, in collaboration with PRK Productions, has released the teaser for Maarigallu, generating interest among audiences ahead of its 31st October premiere. Narrated by actor Dhananjaya, the teaser features a notable moment with the late Puneeth Rajkumar appearing as Mayura Sharma, founder of the Kadamba dynasty and Karnataka’s first king. The appearance serves as a nod to Puneeth’s lasting impact on Kannada cinema and PRK Productions’ ongoing projects.

Set in 1990s Sirsi, Maarigallu revolves around the discovery of an ancient clue to a lost Kadamba-era treasure. What begins as a hopeful pursuit unfolds into a story where greed, faith, and fear intersect, raising questions about fate and divine influence.

The series introduces several actors to the web series format, including Rangayana Raghu, Gopal Krishna Deshpande, and Praveen Tej. They are joined by television actor Ninaad Hrithsa, Prashanth Siddi, and AS Suraj from Zee Kannada’s Drama Juniors. Produced by Ashwini Puneeth Rajkumar, the series is written and directed by Devraj Poojary, with cinematography by SK Rao, music by LV Muthu and LV Ganesh, and sound design by Ravi Hiremat.

Ashwini Puneeth Rajkumar said, “Maarigallu is special because it reflects one of Appu’s dreams. Puneeth wanted stories rooted in our land to reach a wider audience through web series. With this project, we are trying to bring that vision to life—stories that combine mystery, devotion, and Karnataka’s culture.”

Actor Rangayana Raghu commented, “It’s a unique experience to be part of a story that mixes folklore with human emotion. The characters have depth, and the narrative explores both suspense and humour, which I think audiences will appreciate.”

Deepak Sriramulu, Kannada ZEE5’s Business Head, added, “Maarigallu reflects our commitment to regional storytelling. It presents Karnataka’s legends in a way that is grounded, emotional, and culturally relevant. The search for the lost Kadamba treasure adds a layer of intrigue that we hope viewers will enjoy.”

Beyond its storyline, Maarigallu holds significance as it continues Puneeth Rajkumar’s aim of bringing meaningful Kannada content to digital platforms. The series blends heritage and contemporary storytelling, offering audiences a glimpse of the culture and history of Karnataka.

Maarigallu will premiere exclusively on ZEE5 on 31st October.
