Pappi takes home top award at Bengaluru International Kids’ Film Festival

With Pappi taking home the coveted top award, Karadigudda and Balya were announced as the first and second runners-up, respectively

The magic of children’s cinema came alive in Bengaluru as the 2nd edition of the Bengaluru International Kids’ Film Festival kicked off, organised by Ullas School of Cinemas. Designed to give young filmmakers and audiences a special platform, the festival showcased nine films, celebrating imagination, creativity, and talent.

The big winner this year was Pappi, taking home the coveted top award, while Karadigudda and Balya were announced as the first and second runners-up, respectively. Beyond the top honors, the festival recognised remarkable performances and contributions across 18 categories.

Young stars shone brightly: Varun Gangadhar of Swarajya and Master Shreyas of Genius Muttha won Best Child Actor awards, while Rutu of Taekwondo Girl and Punyashree of This is Our School were crowned Best Child Actresses. Among the adults, Vijay Raghavendra (Genius Muttha) and Veena Sunder (Swarajya) bagged Best Actor and Actress, while Suman (Ekalavya) and Padma Vasanthi (Genius Muttha) took Best Supporting Acting honours. Nagini Bharana of Genius Muttha was awarded Best Director for her visionary storytelling.

Technical brilliance was also celebrated: V Pavan Kumar (Karadigudda) for Best Cinematography, Shamita Malnad (Chinnara Chandra) for Best Singer, and Amith Rao (Karadigudda) for Best Story, with VY Movies’ Swarajya recognised as Best Production House.

Earlier held under the banner of Appu Film Festival, this edition continues to honour Puneeth Rajkumar’s legacy, inspiring young audiences and filmmakers alike. This kids’ film festival, organised in his memory, ensures his spirit and love for cinema live on.
