Ekka Trailer: Yuva Rajkumar’s Muthu hunts for sleep in a world that won’t rest

The film directeed by Rohit Padaki, is slated for July 18 release

The trailer of Ekka, directed by Rohit Padaki and starring Yuva Rajkumar, sets the tone for a gritty action drama rooted in transformation. Backed by PRK Productions, Jayanna Films, and KRG Studios, the film follows the emotional journey of Muthu, a quiet village boy whose simple life takes a turn when he ventures into the chaos of Bengaluru in search of his missing friend. What begins as a quest layered with emotion quickly spirals into a survival story, framed by violence, betrayal, and a world that demands Muthu to shed his innocence or be swallowed by it.

From the outset, the trailer is visually sharp and tonally consistent, building a brooding atmosphere.

There’s a deliberate rhythm in how Muthu’s arc is introduced: from sleep-filled nights in the village to blood-soaked confrontations in the city. The contrasts are stark and effective.

Yuva Rajkumar is slowly settlinig on screen. His physicality, expression control. There’s honesty in his portrayal of a man pushed into becoming something he never intended. And while the trailer doesn’t reveal everything, it offers enough to suggest a layered transformation.

The presence of Atul Kulkarni, Adityaa, and Sampada Hulivana adds density to the narrative. Adityaa, in particular, as a rugged cop figure, looks poised to deliver dramatic friction. Sanjana Anand’s inclusion as the love interest and Shruthi Krishna as Muthu’s mother ground the emotional fabric, even as the film hints at spiralling conflict.

Charan Raj’s background score stands out, pulsing beneath the visuals without overwhelming them. It holds tension and lends weight to moments of silence and fury alike.

Rohit Padaki, known for his grounded storytelling and flair for stylised drama (Rathnan Prapancha), seems to bring a matured cinematic vision to Ekka.

With theatrical release is slated for July 18.
