Director Nagashekar, who last helmed Sanju Weds Geetha 2, is stepping into a new creative avenue. The filmmaker has announced his next project, Varthegalu... Odutiruvavaru Shankar Nag, where he will take on multiple roles of actor, producer, and, for the first time, music composer.

The film, described as a musical entertainer with a serious core, explores a pressing social issue rooted in small-town India. While Nagashekar headlines the cast and co-produces the film with a close friend, the direction will be handled by Zia Ullah Khan. The project is set to go on floors with a formal muhurat on August 15.

“This is a story that reflects a real issue in our society. It’s personal, and music plays a big part in how we want to express it,” explains Nagashekar.

The title pays tribute to the legendary Shankar Nag and hints at a layered story with local flavour and universal appeal.

Alongside this, the director is also collaborating with Century Star Shivarajkumar for a new film, which will be produced by Chalavadi Kumar.

Meanwhile, Nagashekar is awaiting the release of his Tamil debut, November Mazhaiyil Naanum Avalum, and is planning a second Tamil project with director Dinesh Babu (Amrutha Galige), again backed by Chalavadi Kumar.
