The Karnataka High Court granted actor Darshan Thoogudeepa Shrinivas interim bail for six weeks on Wednesday amid his involvement in the Renukaswamy murder case. After spending 141 days in custody since his arrest on June 11, 2024, Darshan is finally set to get a breather.

The court made this decision based on concerns for Darshan's health. He has been struggling with serious back pain due to problems with his L5 S1 joints and has requested treatment in a private hospital. Senior counsel CV Nagesh explained that Darshan experiences numbness in both feet and may need surgery.

The case centers around claims that Darshan was connected to the murder of Renukaswamy, who allegedly sent inappropriate messages to Pavithra Gowda, a friend of Darshan and co-accused in the case. Prosecutors argue that Darshan and others conspired in the murder, with Renukaswamy's body found near a stormwater drain in Sumanahalli.

Darshan's fans were seen bursting crackers in Ballari as they gathered in front of the central jail to catch a glimpse of him coming out. Fellow actors and directors have also shared their happiness, standing by Darshan during this challenging time. The court has instructed that a health report be submitted within a week and that Darshan must surrender his passport, with a few conditions applied.
