Popular Kannada actor Darshan Thoogudeepa Shrinivas has been detained by Bengaluru city police at Radison Hitel in Mysuru in connection with the murder of a man from Chitradurga. The victim, Renukaswamy, was found in a storm water drain in Kamakshipalya on Sunday. The incident came to light when passersby saw street dogs dragging a body from the drain and alerted the police. As police investigated the unidentified man's body, three people from Giri Nagar surrendered themselves on Monday, claiming responsibility for the murder, which they said was over a financial dispute.

Cross-examination by the police revealed the exact reasons behind the murder; the accused claimed they committed it on behalf of actor Darshan. The victim allegedly sent vulgar messages on social media to actor Pavithra Gowda, a close friend of Darshan. So far, 13 people have been detained in connection with the case.

The victim's parents have arrived at Kamakshipalya police station. The case was registered by Kamakshipalya police on Sunday. Meanwhile, the accused will be presented before the court later today.
