Chief Minister Siddaramaiah determined to honour Dr Rajkumar's vision with the State Film City initiative

Speaking at the inauguration of the Karnataka Producers Association's new building, the Chief Minister underscored the importance of nurturing the film industry

A long-awaited aspiration to establish a film industry in Karnataka may soon be realised, as Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is resolute in honouring Dr Rajkumar's vision by initiating a film city in the state. Speaking at the inauguration of the Karnataka Producers Association's new building, the Chief Minister underscored the importance of nurturing the film industry. The event was attended by prominent personalities such as Shivarajkumar and Jaggesh, as well as officials from the Producers' Association and Sadhu Kokila, President of Karnataka Chalanachitra Academy.

Speaking with the media after the inauguration, Siddaramaiah said, "Our government has always supported the development of Kannada cinema. I am delighted to inaugurate this building. We are committed to fulfilling Dr Rajkumar's dream of a Film City in Karnataka. We will pursue development through private investment and the PPP model." The CM also reiterated his government's dedication to promoting high-quality Kannada cinema.

The Chief Minister also hinted at exploring a state-owned OTT platform and assured steadfast support for Kannada films amidst industry challenges. "This is a new proposal, and we will consider it after careful evaluation," he affirmed.

Furthermore, the Chief Minister committed to convening discussions with the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce (KFCC) to address industry challenges promptly, streamline film subsidies, and ensure annual awards ceremonies. "We will resolve these issues and ensure timely awards distribution," he reassured.
