Director R Balachandra is shouldering multiple responsibilities for his upcoming film, The Dark Side of Kannanjaru. Serving as both the director and lead actor, he is also producing the film under the banner RP Films. This thriller is centered around the events unfolding in the village of Kannanjaru in Karkala.

The film’s significance is deeply rooted in its thrilling narrative, and the shooting, spanning various locations including Karkala, Udupi, and Honnavar, has been completed. “I had initially delegated the directorial responsibilities to someone else, but when it didn’t work out, I took over,” says Balachandra, who has filmed in places like Karkala, Udupi, Honnavar, and other coastal areas for 55 to 60 days. The film is in the final stages of post-production, and the team recently released a motion poster of the film, which might hit the screens early 2024.

The film stars Sharmitha Gowda, senior actor Ramakrishna, PS Sridhar, and Megha. While Harshavardhan Raj is handling the music, Shashank Sheshagiri is in charge of the background score, Venki Udivi is the editor, and Manjunath Hegde is the cinematographer.
