"Why should we fear other film releases? Kaatera is a Kannada film, and this is our turf. Why should we tremble at the thought of releasing our film on our home ground? In fact, they should be afraid of releasing those films here," asserted Challenging Star Darshan during a media interaction about his upcoming film, Kaatera. He emphasised that the Kannada audience always supports good content. "This film isn't a Pan India venture; it's pure Kannada cinema," he added, sparking interest among his fans and people present at this event.
Although no specific film names were mentioned, the discussion hinted at the release of other language films like Salaar-Ceasefire starring Prabhas, and Dunki starring Shah Rukh Khan, among other films scheduled for release a week earlier on December 22.
The entire team, including producer Rockline Venkatesh, director Tharun Kishore Sudhir, heroine Aradhana Ram, actors Kumar Govind, Shruti, Vaijayanath Biradar, Padma Vasanthi, and child artiste Rohith Pandavapura, shared insights about their roles and the film, and in brief, their working experience with the Challenging Star.
While much about Kaatera is kept under wraps, director Tharun Kishore Sudhir aims to maintain a sense of suspense until the trailer release on December 16, at Hubbali as he promised a surprise for the audience," stated the director, adding, "The film will showcase Darshan in an unprecedented role, one which he has never portrayed before."
Tharun added, "Working on the script with Jadesha K Hampi, we had concerns about the film's experimental nature. However, we found a balance to retain mass commercial elements while focusing on content, steering away from a mix of formulaic components."
Darshan also mentioned how the technicians — including writer Jadesha, director Tharun, dialogue writer Maasti, cinematographer Sudhakar S Raj, and music director Harikrishna — have come together as a team to craft this film.
Interestingly, Darshan revealed that Kaatera doesn't follow the template of the hero's introduction song or regular fight sequences. "The first song appears about 20 minutes into the narrative, followed by action even later," mentioned the actor, preparing fans for this unique film. "Ram-Laxman choreographed fights that are out-of-the-box," expressed Darshan, creating intrigue among listeners about his unconventional attempts.
The film also stars Vinod Alva, and Jagapathi Babu in pivotal roles, and editing is handled by KM Prakash.
