Bollywood actor Kangana Ranaut has joined the euphoria around Rishab Shetty's Kantara. On Instagram Stories, Kangana praised the Kannada sensation and pushed for the film to be selected as India's entry to next year's Oscars.

Kangana wrote, "I feel #Kantara should be India's entry to Oscars next year. I know year is yet to end and there may be better films coming, but more than Oscar, India needs the right representation globally... this land of mysteries and Mystics one can't understand one can only embrace it .... India is like a miracle... if you try and make sense of it you will only get frustrated but if you surrender to the miracle you can also be one .... Kantara is an experiential reality which world must experience." 

Kangana also posted a video sharing her experience of watching the film with her family. "I'm still shaking," she says in the video, praising Rishab Shetty's writing, direction, performance and action. She also dubs the film 'a fine blend of folklore, tradition and indigenous issues'. 

Kangana's post comes amid the #KantaraForOscars campaign on social media. The film's dubbed versions—in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu—were released in theatres earlier this month and are performing exceedingly well at the box-office. 

Set in the forests of coastal Karnataka, Kantara tells the story of a local boy, Shiva (Rishab Shetty), who embraces his higher destiny. The film combines religion and folklore with themes of land encroachment, feudalism and tribal oppression. It has been praised for its mythic storytelling, performances and spectacular action design.
