Critically-acclaimed Kannada film Pedro is set for an Australian Premiere at The Indian Film Festival of Melbourne. The Festival headed by Mitu Bhowmik Lange, which is currently in its 13th-year edition, is set to take place from 12-20 August. The festival will be screening 100 films in 23 languages.

Pedro, directed by debutant Natesh Hegde and backed by Rishab Shetty’s production house was among the popular Kannada films that attracted attention nationally and internationally. The film, which has been receiving rave reviews at international film festival circuits, narrates the story of an outcast and a drunkard, Pedro, who lives in a remote village in southern India. He accidentally kills a cow belonging to his landlord. Afraid of the consequences, he flees the village. A turn of events causes Pedro to return to his village, but the village folks refuse to accept a man who has committed such an unholy and disgraceful act.

Gopal Hegde, Natesh’s real father, plays the titular role, and the cast of the film includes Ramakrishna Bhat Dundi, Raj B Shetty, Medini Kelamane, and Nagaraj Hegde.
