He added, "I’m sure that no matter when we look back at her outstanding achievements, everyone will remember the spirit and integrity of this person behind those classic works. Big sister Nansun, rest in peace. We pay our deepest respects to you and will remember you forever."
Chan's tribute to the late filmmaker hints at his deep and longtime respect for her.
Chan also shared a couple of photographs featuring him with the late filmmaker, suggesting their warm bond.
The Film Workshop released a statement revealing Shi's passing recently, where it disclosed that she experienced declining health for a long time because of infections causing organ dysfunction and immune system issues.
Another actor who paid homage to her is Donnie Yen, known to audiences worldwide for his roles in the Ip Man and John Wick franchises. Taking to his Instagram Stories space, Yen shared pictures featuring him with Nansun Shi and wrote, "A true legend. A rare woman boss in this industry—intelligent, elegant, funny, patient, and kind. She was willing to teach me all about filmmaking. We've traveled to many film festivals and the most unforgettable was Venice Film Festival 2005. I will miss our fun dinners. I'll carry our experiences and your inspiration. You will be missed."
