Kamal Haasan congratulates Dalai Lama for Grammy win

Dalai Lama won his first Grammy Award the other day

On February 01, at the age of 91, Tibetan spiritual leader Dalai Lama won his first Grammy award for his spoken word album, Meditations: The Reflections of His Holiness the Dalai Lama in the category of Best Audio Book, Narration, and Storytelling Recording. For the album, Dalai Lama collaborated with Ustad Amjad Ali Khan, Khabir Sehgal, Amaan Ali Bangash, Andra Day, Ayaan Ali Bangash, Debi Nova, Maggie Rogers, Rufus Wainwright, Ted Nash, Tony Succar, Joe Alterman. 


The spiritual leader emerged victorious at the 68th Grammy Awards in Los Angeles in a highly competitive category, where the other nominees were: Kathy Garver - Elvis, Rocky & Me: The Carol Connors Story, Trevor Noah - Into The Uncut Grass,  Ketanji Brown Jackson - Lovely One: A Memoir, Fab Morvan - You Know It's True: The Real Story Of Milli Vanilli. Dalai Lama and Ustad Amjad Ali Khan wove a spoken wisdom and classical melody to get the Grammy award. Ever since the announcement, many public figures congratulated him.

Actor-politician Kamal Haasan congratulated the Grammy winner on X (formerly Twitter) today. He wrote, ‘’Proud to see one of the world’s thought leaders joining the venerable league of Artistes. Yes. Words can add more meaning to music of this world. Congrats Grammy. Congrats Amjad Ali Khan sahab. He doesn’t need praise. Let us rejoice. Let us wish for truth to prevail. Let us share our joy with Dalai Lama. We desire neither to lengthen nor to shave.’’  

On the work front, Kamal is set to produce a film starring Rajinikanth and directed by Cibi Chakravarti
