The tweets concern diversity at the Academy Awards, George Floyd, and religion. Following the backlash against her controversial tweets, the actor did not attend the Critics Choice Awards, the BAFTA Film Awards, and SAG Awards, all of which recognised her performance in Emilia Perez with nominations. The actor has apologised for the posts recently, and she also told CNN that she would refrain from making public remarks about the matter.

And, in the latest development, she is set to attend the Academy Awards ceremony. As per reports, Netflix is going to afford her expenses to take part in the event.

Gascon is the first openly trans actor to receive an Oscar nomination. Her fellow nominees in the Best Actress Oscar category are Cynthia Erivo for Wicked, Mikey Madison for Anora, Demi Moore for The Substance, and Fernanda Torres for I'm Still Here.
