Shogun actor Takehiro Hira to star in Karoshi

Takehiro Hira, who played the villain in JioHotstar's series Shogun, has signed on to star in an action thriller titled Karoshi, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Hira will join lead actor Teo Yoo in the film, alongside Cynthia Erivo and 1923 star Isabel May. Takashi Doscher, known for the postapocalyptic film Only, is directing Karoshi from his own screenplay. Chad Stahelski of the John Wick franchise is producing the film alongside his 87Eleven Entertainment team members Jason Spitz and Alex Young. The film is produced as part of a first-look deal that 87Eleven Entertainment has with the film's distributor Lionsgate.

The makers are yet to reveal any information about the film's story and characters, but it is reportedly a "corporate thriller" that has a revenge angle, and its story is based in a New York City with a Japanese influence. The word 'karoshi' in Japanese means an inexplicable sudden death associated with overwork. According to reports, Hira is playing a villain in the film, which is set to go on floors in June. 

Hira also has Rental Family, alongside Brendan Fraser, and Tornado in the pipeline. The actor will reprise his character in Monarch: Legacy of Monsters as well.
