The Chennai World Cinema Festival, which will feature 146 short films and feature films from as many as 51 countries, will be held in the city between October 4 and October 10. The event is likely to see the attendance of around 20 film personalities from places like Venezuela, Iran, and Bangladesh. The festival will be free of charge for the public.

Around 3321 short and feature-length films from 112 countries were considered for the shortlisting. The event will get kickstarted at the Tamil Nadu Government MGR Film and Television Institute, with the Venezuelan film The Inner Glow opening the festival. The Ambassador of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Capaya Rodriguez Gonzalez, is likely to attend the inaugural ceremony.

Films will also be screened at Prasad Theatre, Periyar Thidal, and educational institutions like Loyola College, Ethiraj College, and Bharat Institute of Higher Education and Research.
