A show titled Big Brother, based on Icelandic author Skuli Sigurdsson's crime thriller novel 'Stóri Bródir', is in the works, reports Variety. ZDF Studios from Germany and ACT4 from Iceland are developing the show, which tells a story of retribution. It follows a journalist and detective who look into the crimes committed by a mysterious, black-clothed figure who appears and attacks an unpunished sexual offender on a full moon night. The co-founder of ACT4, actor, scenarist, and producer, Ólafur Darri Ólafsson is the executive producer and showrunner. He is writing and refinining the screenplay alongside Anita Briem, Teitur Magnússon, and Anna Gunndís Guðmundsdóttir.

Ólafsson stated, “As a crime fiction, the tale of ‘Big Brother’ is thrilling and brutal, a very suspenseful narrative. It rises above its genre as it poses a difficult question for our society: Someone is taking it upon himself to punish sexual offenders when our justice system fails. Gradually his actions become more brutal and he starts killing his victims. Who do we side with, the self-proclaimed warrior of justice or the people who are trying to catch a murderer?”
