The makers of Hayao Miyazaki's upcoming and final film The Boy and the Heron, released a pre-teaser of the film and also updated that the film's first look teaser will be unveiled on September 6. The film is attached to Studio Ghibli and will serve as the opening film at the 48th Toronto International Film Festival on September 7.

The Boy and the Heron released in Japan on July 14, without any promotional material ahead of the release.

The pre teaser begins with the lines, "A young biy named  Mahito yearning for his mother ventures into a world shared by the living and the dead. There, death comes to an end, and life finds a new beginning.” The teaser also describes the film to be a "semi-autobiographical fantasy about life, death and creation in tribute to friendship from the mind of Hayao Miyazaki

The Boy and the Heron released in Japan as Kimitachi wa Di Ikiruka, which means How Do You Live? While Miyazaki has written the story, it is backed by Toshio Suzuki. Joe Hisaishi has scored the music.
