Film Society Of The Snow, Spain's representation at the Oscars 2024, is set to premiere on Netflix on January 4, following its theatrical release slated sometime in December, the streaming platform announced.

Directed by JA Bayona, Society Of The Snow is based on true story focusing on a group of athletes who are made to face harsh conditions after surviving a plane crash in Andes Mountains. The film is based on events that took place in 1972.

The film took inspiration from the book co-written by a survivor of the incident, Dr. Roberto Canessa, and Uruguayan journalist Pablo Vierci’s La Sociedad de la Nieve. Society Of The Snow is co-written by Bayona, Nicolás Casariego, Jaime Marques, and Bernat Vilaplana. The film features Enzo Vogrincic, Matías Recalt, Agustín Pardella, Diego Vegezzi, Esteban Kukuriczka, Rafael Federman, and Andy Pruss.
