Jubilee-fame Prosenjit Chatterjee has announced that his next is a Bengali film titled, Devi Chowdhurani: Bandit Queen of Bengal

The film is based on Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay's novel, Devi Chaudhurani. The book, set in 18th-Century Bengal, revolves around a young woman who is abandoned by her in-laws. She is adopted by a dacoit and ends up becoming a female Robin Hood.

Prosenjit took to his social media to share the motion poster and details about the film. He wrote, "Devi Chowdhurani (Bandit Queen Of Bengal) Motion Poster. The untold story of the first woman freedom fighter of India against the British Colonial Rulers. The breathtaking story of Sanyasi and Fakir Rebellion of 1776. First Bengali Pan India movie in 7 languages."

Scheduled for release in Autumn 2024, the film is written and directed by Subhrajit Mitra. TV journalist-turned-actor Srabanti Chatterjee will feature in the titular role. Prosenjit, on the other hand, will be seen as Bhavani Pathak, the bandit who mentors Devi Chaudhurani.

Fresh off the success of Jubilee, Prosenjit is awaiting the release of Scoop, in which he plays a character inspired by crime journalist J Dey.
