The trailer for acclaimed Japanese animation director Makoto Shinkai’s next film titled Suzume no Tojimari was released online. Makoto Shinkai is known for his unique visual language and portrayal of themes like long-distance romance, longing, and separation in his films.

The director rose to fame through films like 5 Centimetres per Second, Your Name, and Weathering With you. His Your Name, which was released in 2016, received positive reviews and went on to become the third highest-grossing anime film of all time.

Written and directed by Makoto Shinkai, the film has characters designed by Masayoshi Tanaka and animation direction by Kenichi Tsuchiya, and art direction by Takumi Tanji. The voice cast of the film includes Nanoka Hara and Hokuto Matsumura.

The film is currently scheduled for a domestic theatrical release on 11 November 2022, with an international theatrical release in 2023.
