Satan’s Slaves: Communion, directed by Joko Anwar, becomes the first Indonesian film and the first local South-Asian film to make use of the IMAX technology. The horror film is a sequel to the director's 2017 film Satan’s Slaves.

The film critic turned filmmaker announced the news with the film’s poster on Instagram. In the caption for the post, Joko Anwar expressed his excitement by saying, “Confirmed. Bigger. More thunderous! More fun! Satan’s Slaves: Communion is the first Indonesian film (and the first local film in Southeast Asia) with IMAX technology and will be available in all IMAX cinemas throughout Indonesia!.”
 

Satan’s Slave: Communion revolves around a family which experiences terrifying events after the mother dies and comes back to haunt them.

According to the director, the film is getting a nationwide theatrical release and also on the nine IMAX screens across the country. 

Tara Basro plays the young woman who is trying to break the curse haunting her family. The returning cast includes Bront Palarae, Endy Arfian, Nasar Anuz, Egi Fedly, and Ayu Laksmi. The recurring cast will be joined by Muzakki Ramdhan, Fatih Unru, Ratu Felisha, Jourdy Pranata, Kiki Narendra, Nafiza Fatia Rani, and Iqbal Sulaiman. 

The film is currently scheduled to release on 4 August.
