Adipurush teaser: Prabhas’s Rama is all set to fight Saif’s maniacal Lankesh

CE Features

The teaser of Prabhas, Saif Ali Khan-starrer Adipurush has been launched in a grand manner in Ayodhya on Sunday. The event is attended by Prabhas, Kriti Sanon, director Om Raut and T-Series head honcho producer Bhushan Kumar. A 50-feet poster of the film has also been unveiled in front of a huge gathering at Ram ki Paidi, on the banks of river Sarayu in Ayodhya.

Adipurush is a retelling of the Indian epic Ramayana with Prabhas playing Lord Ram and Saif Ali Khan essaying Lankesh. Kriti Sanon plays Sita, while Sunny Singh features as Lakshman. The first glimpse of the film shows Prabhas as Rama, meditating in the depths of the ocean. As evil spirits surround him, he wields his bow and arrow and vanquishes them. “Let the land subside or the heavens break, justice will win over injustice,” is heard on a voice-over. Saif is also seen as Ravana, bearded, standing over a snow capped mountain and looking intense. Rama’s vanar sena is also seen and Prabhas is seen riding on the back of a flying monkey, which is probably Hanuman.

Earlier talking about the film, Kriti had told PTI, “We have to obviously stay within a certain boundary and realise the weightage and the responsibility that come with the character that you are playing. Thankfully, I am in the hands of a brilliant director, someone who has done all the research on the subject and on all characters.”

From the teaser, Adipurush looks like a VFX-heavy film. Billed as one of the biggest films of recent times, it will have a wide release on January 12, 2023 across multiple languages— Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada. The film will also be presented in 3D and IMAX.
