The teaser of Shlok Sharma’s Two Sisters and a Husband was released on Tuesday. The film is going to premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival this year in the International Narrative Competition category. The movie is the only Indian film at the festival this year.

The teaser, shared by Shlok on his Instagram profile, opens with a phone ringing. A woman picks it up and asks, “Where did you get the number from?” The video then cuts between visuals of actors in state of peril as solemn music plays in the background.

The film stars Manya Grover, Dinker Sharma and Avani Rai.

As per the film’s synopsis on the Tribeca Film Festival website, It is the story of Amrita (Manya Grover) who wants a life with Rajat (Dinker Sharma), with whom she’s in a secret relationship. Even after Rajat is steered into marrying Amrita’s introspective older sister, Tara (Avani Rai), the younger one’s love remains undimmed. But when Amrita becomes pregnant by her now brother-in-law, the trio are forced to flee to a mountain town, where Rajat becomes manager of a hotel owned by the last heir of a royal family, Bhed Singh (Himanshu Kohli). Tara slips into melancholy, while Amrita passes her due date yet shows no readiness to give birth.

Shlok has been a frequent collaborator with Anurag Kashyap and was also the Second Unit Director of Gangs of Wasseypur. He debuted with Nawazuddin Siddiqui starrer Haraamkhor.

The Tribeca film festival will be held in New York from June 8 to 19.
