13 years after Kaminey we have an encore. Aasmaan Bhardwaj, son of acclaimed filmmaker Vishal Bhardwaj, is making his directorial debut with Kuttey, another foulmouthed caper about multiple hounds after a prize.

The trailer of Kuttey was launched in Mumbai on Tuesday. Like the name of Naseeruddin Shah's theatre group, it features a motley crew of characters in and around Mumbai. Many of them, it must be noted, are played by Bhardwaj habitués, including Shah, Tabu, Radhika Madan and Konkona Sen Sharma. The new entrants are Arjun Kapoor, as a corrupt cop, and Eeb Allay Ooo!-fame Shardul Bharadwaj. There's also Kumud Mishra as a plainclothed senior cop and Anurag Kashyap in a cameo appearance.

The trailer turns on heavy music, swear words, and a lot of rain. It often feels like a Vishal Bhardwaj tribute video, blessed and produced by the man. The plot concerns a van of cash everyone wants to loot. A halfway funny Mexican standoff—another VB signature—bookends the 2.42 minute trailer.

Aasmaan studied filmmaking at the School Of Visual Arts, NYC. He has assisted his father on films like 7 Khoon Maaf, Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola and Pataakha.
