The trailer of Ranveer Singh-starrer Jayeshbhai Jordaar was released on Tuesday. The movie, produced by Yash Raj Films, is slated to release on May 13 this year.

The trailer shows Ranveer as a moustache-sporting Gujarati boy, Jayesh. He is the son of a patriarchal village sarpanch, played by Boman Irani. Jayesh's wife, played by Arjun Reddy actor Shalini Pandey, is expecting and the family is hoping for a boy to be the heir to the village head's post. The film's rising action begins when Jayesh discovers he is going to have another girl and escapes his village home with his wife and firstborn. The subsequent chase by Jayesh's father and his supporters forms the comedic centre of the movie. The film also stars Ratna Pathak Shah as Jayesh's mother.

Talking about his character, Ranveer said in a statement, "He is not your typical hero. He discovers heroism when he is pushed to the brink and he is, according to me, going to be the most lovable hero in the history of Hindi cinema."

"Hopefully, Jayeshbhai will change the definition of heroism on screen and leave an important message to people in the most entertaining and hilarious fashion. Jayeshbhai Jordaar is undoubtedly a film with the biggest heart in my body of work," he added.

Jayeshbhai Jordaar is the directing debut of Divyang Thakkar. Its release was earlier clashing with Ayushmann Khurrana-starrer Anek but makers of both the films discussed and eventually the release of the Anubhav Sinha directorial was shifted to May 27.
