The trailer of Aparna Sen's new film The Rapist has been released.

The film stars Konkona Sen Sharma, Arjun Rampal, and Tanmay Dhanania as the leads. It is the director's third Hindi film after Saari Raat (2015) and Sonata (2017).

The Rapist is billed as a hard-hitting drama that examines how much of society is responsible for producing rapists.

The trailer shows Konkona's character getting sexually assaulted. The film tries to get into the psyche of the survivors and offenders while also exploring why these crimes are committed in the first place. The makers attempt to find the root cause for such heinous acts and the role of inequalities in our social system.

The Rapist will be premiering at the 26th Busan International Film Festival (BIFF), which is scheduled to be held from October 6-15. It will be premiering in the A Window on Asian cinema section.
