Dhamaka trailer out: Kartik Aaryan worries about the bomb

Ram Madhvani's film is about a newsman who can save Mumbai

A radio jockey gets a bomb threat on air. His response? A bemused, sideways Akshay Kumar-grin. Then: a blast.

Arjun Pathak (Kartik Aaryan) gets the call of his life when a man threatens to blow off the Mumbai sea link.

Blow it off he does, with more explosions to come. Arjun, grabbing on the opportunity, barters his way back to his previous job, as a high-perched television primetime host. "Get our ratings up," commands his boss, Ankita (Amruta Subhash). But Arjun soon goes off script, courting past demons as his soon-to-be-divorced wife (Mrunal Thakur) reports from the bomb site.

The trailer of Dhamaka delivers on the Ram Madhvani brand. The director of the high-wire, critically-acclaimed hostage drama Neerja (2016) and sprawling crime saga Aarya (2020—) is back with a new thriller.

The 2-minute trailer unfolds inside the newsroom, cutting between wide aerial cityscapes and a nervy, stir-crazed Arjun. Is his life and career a tinderbox...and who lights the match?
