The Vvaan, the Sidharth Malhotra-Tamannaah starrer fantasy-thriller had defied many trade predictions with an opening day collections of Rs 8 crores. Over the weekend, the film performed much better, taking its first weekend collections to Rs 33.60 crores nett.

According to Sacnilk, The Vvaan collected Rs. 14.35 crores nett on Sunday, which is an 80 percent hike from its Friday figures. What’s even more impressive is the film collected these figures while playing on nearly the same number of screens as Friday. In the overseas market, the film collected Rs 1.25 crores on day 3, taking its total overseas figures to Rs 3.50 crores.

While 2026 has largely been dominated by franchise films, The Vvaan is one of the rare non-franchise films to show promise at the box office. Other non-franchise films that performed better on their first weekend than this film are Toxic, Alpha, and Bhooth Bangla. 

Given the trend, the film is expected to hold steady on the weekdays as well, and is likely to cross Rs 60 crore figure by Thursday. The first weekend figures for The Vvaan are also the highest for Sidharth Malhotra in the past 10 years, including films like Param Sundari (2025) and Thank You (2022).

Jointly produced by TVF, Balaji Telefilms and 11:11 Entertainment, The Vvaan also features Maniesh Paul, Anup Soni, Shweta Tiwari and Sunil Grover in the lead cast. 

In our review for the film, we noted, “Right from the opening scene, where Rishi saves a young person, there is an unexplained rush to the scenes. The film never feels comfortable with its rhythm, always racing through its plot points, as if afraid of the audience’s unforgiving attention span.”
