On Thursday, Sajid Nadiadwala met Australian Premier Chris Minns at his Mumbai office. During the Premier’s visit, Sajid officially announced Hey Babyy 2, the sequel to his 2017 production Hey Babyy.
The sequel announcement was part of the three-film deal which will be shot in Australia, commencing a larger collaboration between Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment and Australia through Sydney based TEMPLE, further strengthening the production house’s creative and production ties with the country.
Talking about the announcement, Sajid Nadiadwala said: “Australia is breathtakingly beautiful, and an incredibly film-friendly country. From our directors, to EP had all had a fantastic time shooting there, and the support extended to our team made the process truly memorable. The experience has encouraged us to look at Australia as a key destination for our future productions, and we are now looking forward to taking three of our upcoming films there to shoot."
NSW Premier Chris Minns said, “Having Nadiadwala Grandon Entertainment choose Australia for three upcoming films is a big vote of confidence in our screen industry. They’ve had a long relationship with Australia, including filming the original Heyy Babyy here almost 20 years ago, and we’re really pleased they want to come back. We want to make NSW an easy choice for Indian filmmakers looking to shoot their next big production.”
More details about the sequel, including the lead cast, are yet to be announced.
Incidentally, a few weeks ago, Hey Babyy completed 19 years of its release. The comedy starred Akshay Kumar, Vidya Balan, Fardeen Khan, and Riteish Deshmukh in the lead cast. Directed by Sajid Khan, the film was one of the biggest hits of 2017.
Nadiadwala Grandsons also completed 75 years of its establishment recently.
