Director Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayana has been having a dream run at the box office so far. Since its November 05 release, the film has earned more than 253 crore from theatres in India thus far, according to data from the box office tracker Sacnilk. The aforesaid Ramayana box office collection also includes the latest available Sunday figure as well, which stands at 35.60 crore. On the other hand, the film has earned 384 crore at the global box office.

With the Diwali season starting and positive reviews coming in for the film, there is a good chance that it will beat Animal's record of being the highest-grossing film in Ranbir Kapoor's career. Sandeep Reddy Vanga's directorial venture from 2023 reportedly earned more than 900 crore from theatres worldwide. Ramayana has already earned half of that in four days of its release.

The film is well on its way to become the highest-grossing Ramayana adaptation in the history of Indian cinema. The record now belongs to Adipurush, starring Prabhas, Saif Ali Khan, and Kriti Sanon. Directed by Om Raut, the 2023 film had earned 393 crore from theatres worldwide, according to Sacnilk data.

The film is produced by Namit Malhotra of Prime Focus Studios alongside Yash of Monster Mind Creations. Namit's company DNEG has worked on the visual effects for the film, which have been gaining considerable praise from the audience.

The film's technical team also includes music by AR Rahman and Hans Zimmer, marking the first collaboration between the two Oscar winners.

Ramayana is designed as a two-part film, with the second part set for a Diwali 2028 release. The sequel was initially scheduled for a 2027 release, but it has been pushed back by a year. According to reports, the makers also plan to expand the franchise with a third part.
