On Friday evening, the makers of Maatrubhumi held a grand event to share many updates about their film. On the occasion, the makers also confirmed the release date for Maatrubhumi. Also starring Chitrangada Singh as the female lead, Maatrubhumi will now arrive in theatres on December 4.
Salman Khan was present at the event alongwith Chitrangada and his director Apoorva Lakhia. The actor was in a visibly jovial mood at the event, making self-deprecating jokes about his tardiness and talking about why his biopic, if ever made, won’t be a commercial success.
It is to be noted that Maatrubhumi was earlier titled Battle of Galwan, and was primarily focused on the Indo-China conflict. However, the makers reportedly were asked to avoid dealing with such a sensitive topic, and instead were directed to make certain changes to their film’s narrative in order to obtain clearance from the censor board. The makers' strategy to release exclusively romantic numbers, including the latest song release titled ‘Teri sexy beauty,’ hints at the possibility that the film’s story has been majorly altered.
However, at the event held yesterday, Salman Khan stated that there was no pressure from government to change the film’s title.
The film also features Mukesh Rishi, Ankur Bhatia, Zeyn Shaw and Abhilash Chaudhary in key roles.
Now it remains to be seen whether Eetha makers will go ahead with the massive clash, or choose a latter release date to avoid box office damage potential.
Salman Khan’s last major release was Sikander, which also starred Rashmika Mandanna and released in March 2027. Despite a stellar star cast and big scale production, the film did not leave any mark at the box office.
