After Ranveer Singh was banned by the Federation of Western India Cine Employees and the body also urged the film industry to not work with the actor following a complaint by Farhan Akhtar over his abrupt exit from Don 3, Ranveer has now issued a statement via his spokesperson.
The statement conveyed that Ranveer is choosing to remain silent about the whole issue. “Ranveer Singh holds the highest regard for the film fraternity and for everyone associated with the Don franchise. Throughout the recent developments surrounding Don 3, he has consciously chosen to maintain silence, believing that professional discussions and personal equations are best handled with dignity, maturity and mutual respect,” it read.
“While several narratives and speculations have surfaced over time, Ranveer has never considered it necessary to respond publicly or contribute to conjecture. His focus remains firmly on his work and the commitments ahead. He continues to hold deep respect and goodwill for all those involved and sincerely wishes the franchise continued success. Choosing restraint and grace in moments like these has always been a conscious decision on his part, and he will continue to maintain the same stance,” it added.
The FWICE has issued a strict non-cooperation directive against Ranveer, effectively banning him and instructing the industry not to work with him until he resolves the dispute with the film body over the Rs 45 crore damages demanded by the producers. Slamming the actor's last-minute departure, the FWICE stated that the growing trend of superstars refusing to go ahead with projects just before shooting begins needs to be stopped.
The controversy reportedly began after Excel Entertainment, the banner led by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani, filed a complaint in April. The complaint claimed that Ranveer had signed a three-film contract with the production house. As per the complaint, the producers sought reimbursement for the massive pre-production costs that had already been spent before the actor allegedly walked out of the project.
It all started when Ranveer, after Dhurandhar's release in December 2025, suddenly walked out of Don 3. Farhan didn't accept the decision lying down, and according to multiple reports, escalated the issue by involving the Producers Guild of India. In a meeting of the Guild members, also attended by Farhan and his co-producer Ritesh Sidhwani, it was alleged that about Rs 40 crore had already been spent by Excel on pre-production of Don 3, and the script was approved by Ranveer at every stage. He, on the other hand, alleged that Farhan had put Don 3 on the backburner, owing to Ranveer's career slump then. The Guild advised them to resolve the issue amicably than go the legal way.
Farhan had also addressed the uncertainty around the film in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter India. Without naming the controversy directly, he said, “A lot has happened over the last couple of years. You learn to expect the unexpected. Nothing can be taken for granted till you actually have it on film.”
Don 3 has been one of the most anticipated Hindi films ever since it was announced. Farhan Akhtar last directed Don 2 in 2011, which starred Shah Rukh Khan, Priyanka Chopra and Boman Irani in key roles. The third instalment had already attracted massive attention because of its high-profile casting.
Ranveer was last seen in Aditya Dhar’s Dhurandhar: The Revenge.
