Ranveer Singh-Don 3 row: Sanjay Gupta shares cryptic post, seemingly supporting the actor over ban

Here is what director Sanjay Gupta said about the ban of Ranveer Singh

Cinema Express Desk

Earlier this Tuesday, we reported about the Federation of Western India Cine Employees banning Ranveer Singh and asking the industry not to collaborate with him following Farhan Akhtar's complaint about his exit from director Don 3. Reportedly, Ranveer has also been asked to pay Farhan 45 crore as compensation for the loss he incurred following the actor's exit from the film project.

Since FWICE's announcement, the industry has been talking about the row over Ranveer Singh and Don 3. Take director Sanjay Gupta, for instane. "When an A List Hero shoots there are more than 300 workers working on sets. Ban him and you are not stopping him but depriving the workers of their livelihood," the director wrote on X before rhetorically suggesting that banning Ranveer does not make sense.

While the director did not mention Ranveer Singh in his post, it is worth noting that the timing of the post and the use of the words 'A List' and 'ban' allude to the actor's much-speculated exit from Don 3. Around the same time, Sanjay also shared a post, seemingly criticising an aspect of Ranveer's Dhurandhar franchise. "Can anyone imagine Hamza singing and dancing to an item number. That concept is long gone. It's DEAD. The same way that promotions in malls are dead. Par hum nahin seekhienge (But we will not learn)," the filmmaker said.

Sanjay Gupta is known for his forthright opinion about the Hindi film industry. In February this year, for example, he shared another cryptic post, seemingly taking a dig at Kohrra season 2, featuring actors Mona Singh and Barun Sobti, among others.

Coming back to Ranveer, the actor's stocks have risen considerably since the humongous success of the two Dhurandhar films. Reportedly, since the franchise's success, the actor's priorities have changed and he does not agree with certain aspects of the Don 3 script.
