Riddhima Kapoor Sahni will be making her acting debut with Kapil Sharma starrer Daadi Ki Shaadi, the upcoming comedy which also stars her mother Neetu Kapoor in a leading role. Ahead of the release, Riddhima spoke about her debut film in a recent interview.

Speaking to Indian Express, Riddhima said about her debut, “It truly feels surreal and deeply emotional. There’s a sense of everything coming full circle.” Riddhima also spoke about her father Rishi Kapoor on the occasion, who passed away 6 years ago. “I know my father is always with me blessing me in anything and everything that I choose to do. That thought gives me a lot of strength and comfort,” she added.

With Daadi Ki Shaadi, Riddhima continues the legacy that was carried on for decades by other female actors in the Kapoor family, like her cousins Karisma and Kareena. Talking about the women in her family and the evolving attitude around working women, Riddhima said, “Today, women are choosing their own paths regardless of age or expectations. My debut is just a small reflection of that larger change. The women in our family have such grace and strength, and to be able to follow even a small part of that legacy is something I deeply cherish. Karisma and Kareena are both incredibly talented, hardworking, and so inspiring.”

Incidentally, Daadi Ki Shaadi also features a brief appearance from Riddhima’s daughter Samara in a song sequence. “It’s a small but a very sweet appearance in the song. As a mother, it’s such a proud and emotional moment to see your child on screen,” Riddhima said about the appearance.

Directed by Ashish R Mohan, Daadi Ki Shaadi boasts a massive ensemble cast that includes actors like Sadia Khateeb, Sarath Kumar, Aditi Mittal, Teju Kolhapure and Yograj Singh. The film is set for release on May 8.
