Earlier this month, we had reported about the makers of Rajkummar Rao starrer Prahaar — The Untold Story of Ujjwal Nikam setting August 7 as their film’s release date. On Thursday, the makers unveiled a new teaser, confirming the same.

Directed by cinematographer-filmmaker Avinash Arun, who is known for directing Killa (2015) and Three of Us (2023) among others, Prahaar follows the determined pursuit of special public prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam, as he follows the trail of 26/11 attacks, leading India to the bigger conspiracy at hand. The newly-released teaser is info heavy, driving home this point with many sharp title cards. “One man followed the trail until the attack became a conspiracy,” one of the cards reads.

While Nikam also worked on other high-profile cases like 1993 Bombay bombings and the Gulder Kumar murder case, Prahaar will promisingly focus on Nikam’s pivotal role in the 26/11 Mumbai attack investigation.

Maddock Films is backing the film, which also stars Wamiqa Gabbi as the female lead. Rajkummar and Wamiqa have previously worked in Bhool Chuk Maaf. Prahaar also marks the 8th collaboration between Rajkummar and producer Dinesh Vijan who have collaborated on films like the Stree franchise, Raabta, and Made in China among others. The ensemble cast for Prahaar include Sikander Kher and Jaideep Ahlwat.

Earlier this year, Rajkummar had penned a long note about his intense physical prep for the film, which included gaining 9-10 kgs for the role. Incidentally, Rajkummar’s upcoming projects include another biopic — Dada, which is based on the life of legendary cricket Sourav Ganguly and is being directed by Vikramaditya Motwane.

Rajkummar Rao will soon also be seen in Raftaar, which additionally stars Keerthy Suresh.
