We had previously reported about Raj Kumar Hirani makes his OTT debut with the JioHotstar series Pritam and Pedro, which he produces alongside Sahil C Khosla. The show also marks the acting debut for his son Vir Hirani. The official trailer of the series was unveiled at a grand event on Monday.

The trailer establishes Pedro (Arshad Warsi), a trigger-happy cop who is unhappy after being transferred to cyber cell, especially after realising he himself is computer-illiterate. His paths cross with Pritam Parker (Vir Hirani), a no-nonsense ethical hacker who is too good at his job.

The two are compelled to unite on a high-profile case, where the chief minister’s son gets kidnapped. Now Pedro takes it upon himself to solve the case, with Pritam’s help, so that he can return to his favourite place — the crime branch.

Meanwhile, the trailer throws another surprise in the form of Vikrant Massey, who plays the main antagonist, a sharp cyber criminal. The series also stars Mona Singh and Boman Irani among others.

At the trailer launch event, Rajkumar Hirani revealed how the idea originated. He said, "During the COVID period, I received a call from the head of the Mumbai Cyber ​​Cell about making a film on cybercrime. I asked them to share the concept, saying I could develop it. In the process, I connected with Amit Dubey, who gave me a book of his short stories, a collection that included several ideas suitable for short films. A few days later, during a Zoom call, I explained that the story I wanted to create wasn't one of the existing ones, but a completely new story altogether."

Pritam and Pedro is directed by Avinash Arun, who has previously made Three of Us (2023) and Killa (2015). Amit Dubey is credited as a writer, while Rajkumar Hirani, Suyash Trivedi, and Abhijat Joshi share story and screenplay credits. Rajkumar is also onboard as editor. 

Pritam and Pedro is set to premiere on July 3.
