Actor Shahid Kapoor is gearing up for the release of Cocktail 2, directed by Homi Adajania and co-starring Rashmika Mandanna and Kriti Sanon. In a recent conversation with The Hollywood Reporter India, Shahid cleared the speculation about the number of projects he has in the future.
According to IMDb, Shahid Kapoor's upcoming projects comprise nine titles, including Cocktail 2, Karna, and Ashwatthama - The Saga Continues. When asked about it, Shahid jokingly dismissed it, saying, if the IMDb team wants to know what his upcoming projects are, they could call him and clarify with him.
Then, Shahid said that he only has Cocktail 2 and Farzi season 2 in the immediate future. As reported earlier, Cocktail 2 is set for a June 19 release in theatres. As for the second season of his Prime Video series, Farzi, Shahid said that he has completed 60 per cent of shoot for it and that he is expected to wrap production on it by September.
Shahid also spoke about the state of the Hindi film industry in recent times. The actor added that he is not in a hurry to choose his future projects, saying that he does not "want to be like jumping the gun," but rather "suss out" his next moves by taking a close look at what writers are up to. Shahid also admitted candidly that he has been wrong with his recent choices, in stark contrast to his comments about negativity online.
Shahid acknowledged that Hindi cinema is going through a rough patch as of now, because of the industry's recent obsession with remakes and franchise instalments. He suggested that, by doing so, the industry left writers having many potentially interesting projects with no option but to look for other endeavours.
