Varun Dhawan starrer Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai, which had a release on June 5, is now available for streaming on ZEE5, exactly 8 weeks after its theatrical release date. The comedy entertainer was directed by veteran filmmaker David Dhawan. 

Also starring Pooja Hegde and Mrunal Thakur in lead roles, HJTIHA tells the story of Jas (Varun Dhawan), a Punjabi boy whose wife Bani (Mrunal Thakur) is seeking a separation from him because Jas desperately wants a baby to the point of pestering Bani for unprotected sex all the time. During a trial seperation period, Jas meets Preet (Pooja Hegde) and impregnates her by the second meeting. Meanwhile, Bani flies down to give him the good news. Now Jas has to juggle between two women, while figuring out a way to deal with the situation. 

According to Sacnilk, the comedy struggled to emerge as a clear winner at the box office. Reportedly made on a budget of Rs 70 crores, the film earned Rs 74.8 crores at the box office worldwide. In our review for the film, we noted, “HJTIHH is a nonsense, no-brainer of a film which can’t even be enjoyed as brainrot. It believes in freestyle storytelling where anything can happen and it does. A lot of times, it felt like the film hasn’t been written but is actually a product of on-set improvisation, that too of the unfunny kind.”

HJTIHA also marked the fourth collaboration between Varun and his father David Dhawan. The two had previously collaborated on Main Tera Hero (2014), Judwaa 2 (2017), and Coolie no. 1 (2020).
