After taking a slow start at the box office, Varun Dhawan starrer Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai failed to register a big growth over the weekend, a factor which was crucial for the film’s overall box office run. Directed by David Dhawan, the comedy stars Mrunal Thakur and Pooja Hegde as the female leads.
According to Sacnilk, the film on day 3 collected Rs 9 crore (nett), as compared to 7.5 crore on Friday and Saturday. This means a 20 percent hike over its day 1 collections, which might be good for a film that opened with big figures. However, considering its slow start, HJTIHA needed a much bigger boost.
Reportedly made on a budget of Rs 90 crore, the film is unlikely to have a smooth box office run, considering next week will see the arrival of many films like Main Vaapas Aaunga, Governor, and Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata.
Produced by Tips Films, the David Dhawan film also features big names like Jimmy Sheirgill, Rakesh Bedi, Chunky Pandey, Maniesh Paul and Mouni Roy in the supporting cast.
This is a considerable setback for Varun Dhawan, whose previous release Border 2 was a big hit.
