Just hours after the Ramayana: Part 1 trailer dropped, anticipation for the film is sky-high as audiences have already begun breaking down and decoding the various glimpses shown in the first promotional material from the film. From Rama's birth to Ravana's takeover of the three worlds; from Sita's wedding to Rama to her abduction by Ravana, the trailer covers a load of details.

Interestingly, netizens have also noticed the absence of Lord Hanuman and his entire Vanar sena. The trailer introduces us to Ranbir Kapoor's Ramayana, Yash's Ravana, Sai Pallavi's Sita, Ravie Dubey's Lakshmana, Arun Govil's Dasharatha, and Rakul Preet Singh's Surpanakha, among others. As the glimpses pass quickly in the trailer, so many clues have been dropped by the makers for what is to come in part 1 of the magnum opus.

When Rama is a teenager, Vishwamitra requests King Dasharatha to send his oldest son as a protector for sages, who are disturbed by the demoness Tataka from performing sacrifices, by defiling the rituals with flesh and meat. Lakshmana accompanies Rama to serve his brother, and they're bestowed with divine mantras named Bala and Atibala, which prevent them from feeling hunger, fatigue or thirst. This happens at the bank of the River Sarayu.

Rama and Lakshmana are taken to protect Sage Vishwamitra’s yagya (sacrifice) for six days and six nights at Siddhashrama, where they're attacked by Tataka. Rama is initially hesitant to destroy Tataka, as she is a woman, but is encouraged by Vishwamitra to protect the innocent. After their mother is killed, Subahu and Maricha wage a war on the brothers. Rama then uses an astra (weapon) to kill Subahu and hurls Maricha far into the ocean to kill him much later. This still from the trailer seems to be Subahu, but it is still not fully clear.

This still shows Rama taking up the challenge of stringing the Siva Dhanush, or Pinaka, in order to win the hand of Sita, princess of Mithila. The Pinaka, created by Vishwakarma, is Siva's treasured weapon, kept safely by the ancestors of Sita's father, Janaka. Janaka challenges suitors to string the massive bow to wed Sita. While most suitors fail to even lift the heavy bow, Rama not only lifts and strings it but also ends up breaking it. This early scene in the Ramayana hints at Rama's strength and might, setting the stage for what's to come.

After Rama returns to Ayodhya following his wedding to Sita, he is halted by an angry Parashurama who questions the former for breaking Lord Shiva's Pinaka. Parashurama then challenges Rama to string his bow, which is none other than Vishnu's bow, Saranga. After Rama strings it with calmness and treats Parashurama with respect, the latter realises he is the seventh incarnation and his successor and presents the Saranga to him, which he uses in the war against Ravana and to ultimately defeat him.

After Rama is sent to exile along with Sita and Lakshmana, Dasharatha falls ill and breathes his last, lamenting about his distant son. Thereafter, while Kaikeyi wants Bharatha to rule the kingdom, he goes into the forest to meet his brother and request his return to the kingdom. When Rama refuses to return before completing his 14-year exile, Bharatha asks for his paduka (footwear), which then rules the kingdom of Ayodhya until Rama's return.

During exile, when Sita asks Rama to catch and bring the golden deer, he goes into the forest. The golden deer turns out to be Maricha, who is killed by Rama. While dying, Maricha screams, "Hey Sita, Hey Lakshmana," in Rama's voice, concerning Sita. She then forces a hesitant Lakshmana to go behind Rama and ensure his safety. Forced to leave her unprotected, he draws the 'Lakshman Rekha' line that would prevent any harmful force from entering and attacking Sita. However, the story then shows her crossing the line to give alms to Ravana disguised as an old man. The Lakshman Rekha is beautifully depicted in the trailer of Ramayana.

Kumbhakarna, cursed to "sleep like he is dead" for six months a year and wake up for the other six months to wreak havoc and devour to his heart's content, is Ravana's younger brother. When Rama wages war against Ravana, he sees the need for the support of Kumbhakarna and wakes him up before his six-month period. But the gigantic younger brother wakes up only after 1000 elephants walk over him. The virtuous warrior, who warns Ravana against fighting Rama but still supports him due to his Dharma as a younger brother, is eventually defeated by Rama.
