Just hours before the much-anticipated trailer release of Ranbir Kapoor-headlined epic Ramayana at the San Diego Comic-Con, the makers announced that it has been postponed and will hit platforms later.

Confirming the delay, producer Namit Malhotra instead, revealed a happy news that Sony Pictures has come on board as the film's international distributor, setting the stage to mount it on a grand scale.

"Today is a very special moment for our Ramayana. My dream of taking Ramayana to the world is now a reality with our partnership with Sony Pictures Entertainment. In light of this, we will be launching our trailer globally at a later date," Malhotra said in the statement.

Calling it a "moment of great pride," he added that Ramayana will be shown to audiences around the world like any other major Hollywood film. "This is special as it opens the door for people across the world to discover the richness of our culture and our stories with renewed pride and enthusiasm," Namit Malhotra added.

He also expressed gratitude to fans for their support and gave a shoutout to the youth of India. "I thank all the fans and the believers of Ramayana for helping make this happen. The youth of our country are our future. Let's all do the best we can to protect our future," the statement read.

Meanwhile, the team, including Ranbir Kapoor and Yash, along with director Nitesh Tiwari and producer Namit Malhotra, made a star-studded appearance at the Comic-con where they spoke in depth about the film's scale and vision.

Mounted as a two-part retelling of the Indian epic, Ramayana stars Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram, Sai Pallavi as Sita, and Yash as Ravana. The ensemble cast also includes Sunny Deol as Hanuman and Ravi Dubey as Lakshman.

Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, the film is produced by Namit Malhotra under Prime Focus Studios in association with DNEG and Yash's Monster Mind Creations. The first instalment is slated for a worldwide IMAX release during Diwali 2026, while the concluding chapter is scheduled to arrive in Diwali 2027.
